Slugging
Slug your way to work, or pick one up. Slugging, also known as "instant carpooling" or "casual carpooling" is a unique form of commuting. It involves drivers stopping to pick up passengers (called "slugs") on their way into the D.C., Arlington, Pentagon or other destinations. Bike/Walk

If you're looking for a way to get around town and get some exercise too, these are the travel options for you. There are paths, trails, bike lanes, and bike lockers and racks at many park-and-ride lots and transit stations for you to use. Many transit services allow bikes onboard. While walking and biking are obviously well suited for shorter trips, you can also combine them with public transportation to go much, much farther. Just walk or bike to a nearby train station, bus stop, or park-and-ride lot and you'll be amazed at how much ground you can cover, no car required.

Telework


Telework!VA 866-469-1010 Telework!VA is a public/private partnership serving Virginia businesses, providing telework training and financial incentives for Virginia businesses to establish or expand telework programs for their employees. Qualified employers can receive up to $35,000 while helping their employees become more productive, increasing employee retention and improving recruiting.

Telework Centers in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia. Telework centers provide local office facilities with state-of-the-art, flexible work environment with all the amenities of a traditional office environment, including computers, phone and voice mail systems, and high-speed Internet access. Telework centers provide a turnkey alternative worksite for employers and employees whose work can be accomplished remotely, at least part of the time.

Telework for Federal Government Employees
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the General Services Administration (GSA) have established this interagency website to provide easy access to information about telework in the Federal Government.

Telework Exchange
